Girl Scout Cookies Available Through Grubhub In Hudson Valley

From Patch.com:

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The coronavirus pandemic has expanded the number of ways you can get your Girl Scout Cookie fix in the Hudson Valley.

The pandemic also handed Girl Scouts a brand-new opportunity to learn in select cities served by the food delivery app Grubhub, according to a news release.

The partnership provides "a hands-on experience in managing e-commerce" for local Girl Scouts, who will track and fulfill orders and manage inventory using Grubhub's back-end technology.

Grubhub is waiving its fees to troops and councils to make the delivery option more feasible. To kick off the collaboration, Grubhub is offering free delivery on Girl Scout Cookie orders through Feb. 14 with a minimum purchase of $15.

In many areas, Girl Scouts will be selling cookies in front of stores and businesses, as they always do, but many are offering virtual sales.

Local troops and councils keep 74 percent of cookie sales proceeds to support programs and services at the troop and council levels. Nearly a quarter of the money goes to the baker.

None of the Girl Scout cookie sales money goes to the national organization.

You can also get your Girl Scout Cookie fix by:

  • Entering your ZIP code in the Girl Scout Cookie Finder to make sure your money stays with the local troop and council
  • Downloading the iPhone or Android Cookie Finder app
  • Asking a Girl Scout to share the link to her virtual sales booth
  • Texting COOKIES to 59618.

Armory for sale, only $595,000

 From MidHudsonNews.com:

The old armory in Middletown has been vacant for decades and it is on the market for only $595,000.

The building is privately owned by a Long Island investor, who is listing it for sale as a shell.

Realtor Greg Tarone said he has offers on the table, but nothing has come to fruition yet.

(A city official) said no buyers have materialized over the many years.

“Every couple of months we hear something about it and give them the leads we are getting and it is up to them now to put together a deal and then we will work with the new property owners throughout the process,” he said. “We have had a lot of false starts on that.”

Uses for the building could include a school, gym, club, community center, museum, or offices, Tarone said.

With great sadness we announce that, effective July 18, 2021, we will no longer be posting updates here.

We truly appreciate those who have visited in the past.  Thank you!
